Mesmer builds to play through nightfall?
I was wondering what builds are good to play through it. I am used to being a me/e fire nuker. But can play domination builds and pretty much any mesmer build too.
Any suggestions?
Also curious, are their any good looking dark mesmer greens to use for looks? I have 15k enchanters dyed black and was wondering if I could find something to hold that would look good.

You can't go wrong with an Ineptitude build anywhere in NF.
As for the green, Kaolin Domination Staff.

Any ideas on a general purpose ineptitude build? I am very rusty on my mesmer and never really got into any groups being anything less than a fast casting nuker.

Interupt builds are fun (I think they are :P) with some slowing illusion magic its quite a challenge to try to interupt everything. Either that or a dom with hex/enchant removal to get into groups easier, The elite shatter hex spell is so uber(in my opinion). Or an illusion degen build where I basically spread degen everywhere with great energy management.

An Ineptitude build is always a good thing, however, for general pvping, i always use something like this:
[skill]Energy Surge[/skill][skill]Energy Burn[/skill][skill]Empathy[/skill][skill]Backfire[/skill][skill]Mistrust[/skill]or[skill]Wastrel's Demise[/skill][skill]Drain Enchantment[/skill][skill]Inspired Hex[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]
Dom: 12+1+1+3
Insp: 9+1
FC: 9+1
Healing Prayers: 3

Dean he just suggested that staff because I asked for good looking mesmer greens that'd match my black 15k enchanters.

Fast Casting 11 [10+1]
Empathy is usually more than enough to finish off any enemy. Power Block helps with some of the more agressive healing monks.
Guilt (keeping in miond that it and Energy Tap have the same recharge time) can be used for energy management, and help with interruption (causes a skill to fail ,the enemy will attempt to use that spell right after it has failed once, setting it up for a nice Power Block).
Wastrels Demise can be used effectively afte a power block, or simply when any spellcasting enemy is not casting, as they tend to go throug their spells quite fast (bar a few spammers i.e. Ruby Djinn).
Wastrels Worry is useful agains kiting monks or other kiting enemies, and most of all can decimate any boss you might come across.
I used this thought Nightfall, and still use it in Hard Mode, it produces some great effects. I also find myself using this well in Aspenwood.

While your pet dying is better than you dying...
...I think kiting is a better option in terms of damage mitigation. You're wasting two skillslots for something you don't really need. Not to mention you don't have a ressig normally.

lol, who cares? I normal mode NF with heroes... it's not like its difficult. And at that moment I just wanted to have a pet... wether it served a purpose or not. Besides one thing about kiting is "While you are running, you are not attacking". I'ts not a matter of NEEDING that pet, the point is I thought it was cool to have a crocodile running around, and seeing as how ranger is one of the most boring classes imo, I really didnt feel like leveling a ranger just to get a pet.
And leveling my pet gave me something else to do while getting my 100% elona exploration title...
Ok, I realize I could've done something better with that skill slot, but it's not like my heroes and henchies actually cared. Not to mention that it is useful to have a pet already leveled when doing Tombs (I play arcane mimcry barrage usually).
So please... gtfo my build

I gotta agree with Lightning, putting a pet on a caster is simply a waste of space. Your pet may run up and 'tank' for you for a little while, but if you went without a pet, you could let an actual warrior or dervish tank for you. The difference is that a real tank will be better suited at reducing damage taken and take up less energy from the monk to heal. In the mean time, your pet will run up, die, and leave you with a disabled skill bar which may possible interupt you resulting in wasted energy. If you run with a pet because you think it's fun, that's one thing, but suggesting a mesmer build with a pet in it will be discounted as crap very quickly by most people and others will be swift to point out your flaws when you suggest such a build to someone who is new looking for an efficient, strong build in which to gain a stronger degree of success.
Oh, and if you think rangers are boring, I truly feel sorry for you.

I solo with Henchmen and Heroes in PVE with the following Build it seems to work pretty well (normal mode)
Mesmer / Elementalist
Dom: 12+1+1+3
Insp: 9+1
FC: 9+1
Energy Surge-Elite
Arcane Echo
Glyph of Lesser Energy (Elementalist skill)
Spiritual Pain
Mistrust
Power Spike
Ether Feast
Rez Signet if with a group / If I am a loner with henchmen and heroes I use one of the following Shatter Enchantment, Chaos Storm, or Energy Burn
I use the following green. It is also the 1st green I ever got in Factions
Milefaun's Staff
• Energy +10
• Chaos damage: 11-22 (req. 9 Domination Magic)
• Halves casting time of Domination Magic spells (Chance: 20%)
• Halves skill recharge of spells (Chance: 20%)
• Domination Magic +1 (20% chance while using skills)
• Energy +5
Edit reading the above builds this may be a good addition to my build (Watrel's Demise)
